After completing his viticultural and wine-making studies at Beaune, Julien Mus returned to his family domaine on the outskirts of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Until then the grapes from the domaine had been sold off to the local co-op. The domaine consists of four hectares of AOC Côtes du Rhône and six hectares of Vin de Pays designated vineyards around Courthezon, to which Julien has added a small plot of AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape, located between those of Font de Michelle and Vieux Télégraphe, near the south-eastern border of the appellation.
The 'Julien Mus' label wines are an opportunity for him to experiment with vineyards that fall outside the official AOP laws, whether due to site location or grape variety. He produces biodynamic wines from vineyards planted around his cellar in Bedariddes, just to the SE of the Crau plateau of Chateauneuf.
Ju de Vie is a blend of southern Rhône varieties produced from younger vines in concrete tanks and we have added Lou Ravi, a new wine, produced from Viognier that grows around the cellar and raised in steel tank.
